The 2026 Annual Conference, “IR as a Trusted Advisor: Creating Opportunity from Uncertainty,” will examine how the Investor Relations function is evolving to play a broader and more strategic role within organisations. The programme provides insights into emerging opportunities for IROs and practical guidance on strengthening stakeholder engagement.

Amid a persistently challenging listings landscape and continued geopolitical shifts shaping the priorities of key investment community stakeholders, this year’s conference will deliver timely insights and practical guidance from senior industry experts across keynote, plenary and breakout sessions. Rob Gurner Rob Gurner
Head of Investor Relations, Inchcape

Rob joined Inchcape plc, the leading global automotive distributor, as Head of IR in April 2023, have previously been at Plus500, a global fintech group, which he joined in May 2020. Prior to that, Rob spent 3 years as Head of IR at Inmarsat plc, a satellite operator, before which he was Head of Global Investor relations for Tokyo-listed Dentsu Inc, following their acquisition of Aegis plc in 2013, where was Head of IR. Before that, Rob had senior IR roles for Lonmin Plc, a platinum mining business, and G4S plc, a security services company. Before moving into in-house IR, Rob worked for a number of financial communications consultancies, including FTI and Gavin Anderson.

Chief Economist and Head of Research, Panmure Liberum

Simon French joined Panmure Gordon in 2014 and rose to the position of Chief Economist and Head of Research. He has been an economics columnist for The Times for the past 9 years, is No.1 Extel in the City of London broker rankings, and is a regular guest on BBC Radio, Sky News, Bloomberg and CNBC. Prior to this, Simon French worked for the UK government at the Cabinet Office as Chief of Staff and Private Secretary.

MD, Rothschild & Co

Shannon joined Rothschild & Co in 2013 after spending 8 years as an equity capital markets professional in Australia and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Rothschild & Co Shannon worked at Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan before that, as well as a period of time as a finance journalist. Shannon’s ECM expertise spans IPOs, block trades, placements, rights issues, and convertible bonds across all industries. Shannon’s current role at Rothschild & Co is focussed on capital markets advisory to listed corporates across a range of topics, including those relevant to investor engagement. Shannon graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland.

He has worked in the UK-equity market for over 25-years, managing a variety of large-cap and small-cap funds for a mix of retail and institutional clients. In his current role he manages over £3bn of AUM across two large-cap UK mandates.

Saul Rubin Saul Rubin
Managing Director and Global Industry Analyst, Wellington

Saul is responsible for analysing investments within the automotive industry, focusing on manufacturers and suppliers across the world. Saul has more than 20 years’ experience following the automotive industry. Most recently, he covered the industry at Haitong Securities (2016), after managing automotive investments at CDPQ (US) (2013 – 2015). Beginning in 2004, he established and served as Partner of Silverstone Capital Management, an investment management company that specialized in making investments in automotive-related companies globally (2004 – 2013). Before that, he worked at UBS on the sell side for almost 10 years (1994 – 2004), covering the industry in Japan and the US. Saul earned his degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge (Queens' College), graduating in 1992, and then went on to study Japanese for two years as a Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation scholar.

Plenary 3 - Driving Board-Level Influence as an IRO

An essential part of the IRO’s role is Board engagement, particularly as a conduit for investor feedback and capital markets intelligence. IROs therefore need to build trust and influence with the Boards of their companies, to ensure they develop a role as a trusted adviser to the Board and their organisation’s other major stakeholders. To that end, this panel will provide key insights on how IROs can best engage with their Boards.

Jonathan Gunby is a former FTSE 250 executive director at IntegraFin Holdings plc with experience in investor relations and public company governance. He also served as CEO of Transact, the group’s flagship platform business. He played a central role in shaping and communicating the company’s equity story and engaging with institutional investors and analysts during and after IHP’s 2018 listing. Jonathan transitioned from executive life in 2025 and now holds a portfolio of non executive roles, including serving as a Board Adviser to Equitory.

Andrew Foster Andrew Foster
Chairman, Corporate Broking, Morgan Stanley

Andrew Foster began his career as a Chartered Accountant at Grant Thornton before moving to the UK Listing Authority, where he spent three and a half years working on primary market regulation during a period of significant change for UK capital markets. In 2000, he transitioned from regulator to market participant, joining Hoare Govett, the broking arm of ABN AMRO. A decade later, in 2010, Andrew joined Morgan Stanley to lead its broking business. Under his leadership, the business has grown significantly, strengthening its position among FTSE 100 clients. Throughout his career, Andrew has advised on numerous pivotal transactions, including the defense of AstraZeneca against Pfizer and a wide range of refinancing deals, particularly during the Global Financial Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Andrew has a degree in Business and Economics from Brunel University of London.

David Shriver David Shriver
Senior Advisor, Kekst CNC

David is currently a Senior Advisor at Kekst CNC, a global strategic communications firm. He spent eight years at Ocado Group, the global technology business, where he served as Director of Communications and Chief Reputation Officer. Prior to joining Ocado, David was Managing Partner of Tulchan Communications LLP, an international financial PR firm. He also worked in Paris as Strategic Adviser to the Chief Executive and Director of Group Financial Communication at Groupe Carrefour, one of the world's leading retailers. Before joining the communications industry, David spent sixteen years in investment banking, latterly as a managing director in the equities division of Credit Suisse First Boston where he was joint head of the global retail research group. His board experience includes serving as a supervisory board member of SDAX-listed online retailer zooplus AG and across the UK arts and culture sector, notably with the Polka Theatre, Wimbledon BookFest, and Creative Folkestone. David has been recognised as one of the UK's most influential PR professionals for seven consecutive years in the annual PR Week Power Book.

Dr Holger Schmieding is an award-winning global economist who has worked for a number of leading global investment banks, including Bank of America and, for the last 16 years, Berenberg. He has also worked as an economics journalist and had a role at the IMF. Holger will be giving his latest view on global economic trends and forecasts, providing a clear macro view of the major markets in which many corporates operate as well where many investors are located.

Dr Holger Schmieding is Chief Economist at Berenberg in Hamburg and London. Before joining Germany's oldest private bank in October 2010, he worked as chief Economist Europe at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America and at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch in London. Having studied economics in Munich, London and Kiel, he holds a doctorate from the University of Kiel. Before taking up his first role as financial market economist in 1993, he also worked as a journalist at "Westfälische Nachrichten" in Germany, as head of a research group on east-central Europe at the Kiel Institute of World Economics and as a desk economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. He co-authored the book “The Fading Miracle” on German post-war economic history in 1992 and published a book on the Euro “Unser gutes Geld – warum wir den Euro brauchen” in 2014.

Carwyn is a Director in the Corporate Broking team at BNP Paribas – with a decade of experience supporting company’s Boards, management, and IR teams in equity story crafting to unlock new institutional investors, providing day-to-day regulatory advice on listed markets, alongside significant M&A and Equity Capital Markets transactions. He recently advised on the Initial Public Offer (IPO) of Princes Group plc, the largest primary IPO under the FCA’s new listing rules, where BNP Paribas acted as Joint Global Co-ordinator and Sole Sponsor. Also in 2025, Carwyn supported, Corporate Broking client, Coats on its £246m equity raise to fund a US acquisition and as Financial Adviser and Corporate Broker to EP Group on its £3.6m acquisition of International Distribution Services plc (Royal Mail). James joined Lazard in 2022 as Managing Director as part of the firm's Equity Advisory Practice. James previously spent over 25 years with Fidelity International as a Senior Fund Manager running both UK and Global equity funds, he also chaired Fidelity's UK Fund Management Team. He brings a deep understanding of equity and capital markets and has a very strong grasp of the views of the institutional investor base. He has a particular focus on the equity narrative, capital allocation and the relationship between boards and investors. James works across sectors working closely with the industry and other specialist teams. Prior to Fidelity he was an Associate with the strategy consulting house, the LEK partnership. He holds a Masters in Economics and an MBA from IMD.
